Wandering walk

  • Walks can be scheduled as needed or recurring weekly
  • Walks are based on your dog's age, breed, & preferences
  • Walks are designed to teach appropriate leash skills & environmental behavior in a positive and engaging way.
  • Walks are designed to offer the dog some environmental choice

I give your dog freedom of some (safe) choice during the walk such as direction and how long to sniff.  Doing this allows them physical exercise but also much needed mental stimulation.  When dogs are out in the environment sniffing around at their own pace we are providing them with two very important things ~ Choice & beneficial olfactory enrichment. Sniffing for dogs plays a major role in their emotional wellbeing & decision making. A regular walking schedule breaks up a boring day, tires them out, & helps improve inappropriate leash behavior.

1:1 private dog walk:

$35 per walk (30 minutes total visit time)

(3) walks package $90

(5) walks package $140

2 dogs in the same household that walk well together additional $10

The walk is 20 minutes leaving space before/after for greeting, fresh water, a nice happy conversation & getting walk ready.

“Enrichment allows animals to demonstrate their species-typical behavior, gives them opportunity to exercise control or choice over their environment and enhances their well-being. Enrichment is just as essential to animal welfare as proper nutrition and veterinary care.”

Regular enrichment is essential for a healthy, happy animal. Studies have shown that enrichment for dogs reduces stress, prevents boredom and lessens unwanted behaviors by providing both physical and mental stimulation (Croney et al., n.d.; Hunt et al., 2022)

Enrichment

Enriching our dogs lives a few minutes a day can make a world of difference for them.

Enrichment relieves boredom, exercises their brain,  EMPOWERS them by offering choice & builds your relationship through trust, interaction & cooperation.

Enrichment can help reduce unwanted behavior by encouraging more appropriate behavior, enhances their general wellbeing & your bond. The list of positive outcomes from positively working with our animals in a force free environment is endless.

It’s not training - it’s enrichment

The activities are designed to challenge their brains - asking your dog to think for themselves - make choices - while also tiring them out.  This would be equivalent to your favorite activity sports, music, museums etc...

Enrichment promotes natural behavior, comes in many forms, and uses all the senses.

I teach you and your dog a fun, engaging, & useful activity in a positive & force free environment that you and your dog can practice together.  One (of many many) examples is a "hand touch. "  Teaching your dog this fun and useful cue is a bridge to teaching other useful skills.  The touch cue is useful if your dog doesn't come when called, needs redirection, or you just want them near you without force.

Enrichment takes only a few minutes a daybuilds confidence, socials skills, and enables dogs to engage in natural behavior while teaching important life skills. It makes life interesting and fulfilling. It breaks up a boring day, &  It is both mentally & physically stimulating.  They are also learning!  Did I mention your dog will love it?!

"Brain activation" as my favorite dog psychologist ~  Anders Hallgren ~ calls it.

There are many enrichment options and foundation skills to choose from.  We discuss appropriate options for your family & dog at the meet and greet. Enrichment is based on many things including age, breed, & activity level.   Call to set up a meet and greet.  It is always free.
