Enrichment Training

Enrichment...what does that mean? It is not something I can show you out of a box...but it is something you will quickly see...and might even be amazed by!  In many ways it is thinking like a dog to teach him how to communicate with you...just like asking him to sit...but way more.

Okay...but WHY?

Enrichment relieves boredom, exercises their brain,  EMPOWERS them by offering choice & builds your relationship through trust, interaction & cooperation. AND tires them out..

It also teaches important life skills.

And it can improve behavior...

Enrichment can help reduce unwanted behavior by encouraging more appropriate behavior, enhances their general wellbeing & your bond.

Regular enrichment is essential for a healthy, happy animal. Studies have shown that enrichment for dogs reduces stress, prevents boredom and lessens unwanted behaviors by providing both physical and mental stimulation (Croney et al., n.d.; Hunt et al., 2022)

Call me to set up an enrichment plan for you, your dog & family!!

"Brain activation"  ~  Anders Hallgren ~

There are many enrichment options & foundation skills to choose from.  We discuss appropriate options for your family & dog. Enrichment is based on many things including age, breed, preference & activity level.   Call to set up an information appointment.

It is always free.

The activities are designed to challenge their brains - asking your dog to think for themselves - make choices - while also tiring them out.  This would be equivalent to your favorite activity...sports, music, museums etc...

Enrichment promotes natural behavior, comes in many forms, and uses all the senses. Enrichment also looks different from one dog to the next as as each dog is their own individual.

I teach you and your dog a fun, engaging, & useful activity in a positive & force free environment

          and then...

you and your dog  practice together for a few minutes twice a day.  One (of many many) examples is a "hand touch. "  Teaching your dog this fun and useful cue is a bridge to teaching other useful skills.  The touch cue is so helpful if your dog doesn't come when called, needs redirection, or you just want them near you without force.

Did I mention your dog will love it?!

Helping dogs improve their behavior by teaching positive dog specific skills.

It is ABSOLUTELY a labor of love!
